Senator Hesselbein Statement – Tax Relief Must Be Responsible & Targeted
MADISON, Wis – Today, Governor Evers vetoed several Republican proposals that would have jeopardized the strong fiscal standing of Wisconsin. Senate Democratic Leader Dianne Hesselbein (D-Middleton) released the following statement:
“We should be providing responsible tax relief to working people. Governor Tony Evers’ 2023-25 budget proposal included a 10-percent middle-class tax cut while also limiting giveaways for the wealthy. Unfortunately, legislative Republicans gutted his proposal. We can do more to uplift hardworking Wisconsinites, without jeopardizing our state’s shared priorities, like public safety and education.”
