Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu Announces Retirement
MADISON, WI – Today, Republican Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu announced he would not be seeking reelection this fall. Another, in a long line of signals from Senate Republicans that they do not believe they will be in the majority come next year.
SSDC Communications Director Will Karcz on Sen. LeMahieu’s retirement:
“There are no two ways about it, Senate Republicans see the writing on the wall. They know that the Wisconsin State Senate is the most flippable chamber in the country and they know Democrats are primed to win their first Senate majority in nearly 15 years. The people of Wisconsin will be well served when Senator Dianne Hesselbein takes over as majority leader next year.”
The running list of Senate Republican retirements now includes:
- Rob Hutton (SD-5)
- Stephen Nass (SD-11)
- Devin LeMahieu (SD-9)
- Van Wanggaard (SD-21)
