Sen. Mark Spreitzer Celebrates Supreme Court Decision Upholding Public School Funding
MADISON – Today, Sen. Mark Spreitzer (D-Beloit) released a statement regarding the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s decision in Jeffrey A. LeMieux v. Tony Evers, which upheld Governor Tony Evers’s partial veto in the 2023-2025 state budget providing Wisconsin school districts with additional funding of $325 per pupil each year to help cover inflationary costs on an ongoing basis:
“I applaud the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s decision today, upholding the Governor’s use of his powers to provide ongoing support for public schools. I look forward to working with my colleagues to build on this base funding and better support our local public schools and educators in the upcoming state budget. The legislature must do more to provide our public schools with the funding, support, and resources they need to meet the needs of every Wisconsin student.”
