SCOTUS Ruling Is Vile and Un-American
Statement of Alderperson JoCasta Zamarripa
I am outraged that the United States Supreme Court would rule that it is ok for federal immigration officials to resume conduction of “roving patrols” in Southern California that are based on racial profiling.
I adamantly stand with Justice Sonia Sotomayor and echo the comments she made in her dissent to this unconstitutional and abhorrent action.
“We should not have to live in a country where the Government can seize anyone who looks Latino, speaks Spanish, and appears to work a low wage job. Rather than stand idly by while our constitutional freedoms are lost, I dissent.”
