Rickie Weeks to Take on New Role with Brewers
Weeks Transitions to Special Assistant Baseball Operations and Domestic/International Scouting
MILWAUKEE – Rickie Weeks, who has served as Milwaukee Brewers associate manager over the last two seasons (2024-25), will be transitioning to the role of special assistant – baseball operations and domestic/international scouting. The announcement was made by President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Matt Arnold.
In his new role, Weeks will assist with the evaluation of draft-eligible and international players as he attends player tryouts, key tournaments and signing day events. He will be instrumental in preparation for the First-Year Player Draft and assist in the recruiting and evaluation process of possible player signings, both professional and amateur. Additionally, Weeks will work with baseball operations leadership on player acquisitions and the assessment and recommendation of on-field rules changes and other changes relative to on-field competition.
“The Brewers organization has done an exceptional job with the team over the last two years, and I am appreciative of my time on the coaching staff,” said Weeks. “I will miss the relationships with players and staff and wish nothing but the best to everyone. Right now, I will refocus in a new capacity with my eyes on future growth to help this club gain wins in a different role.”
Weeks, 43, was named associate manager on November 15, 2023 after serving the organization as assistant to player development from 2022-23. He had been promoted to special assistant to player development just prior to being named associate manager.
The former second baseman played 14 seasons in the Major Leagues with Milwaukee (2003, 2005-14), Seattle (2015), Arizona (2016) and Tampa Bay (2017). He was an All-Star in 2011 and is a member of the Brewers Wall of Honor.
The Brewers will have further information on the 2026 coaching staff at a later date.
