Representative Gwen Moore Statement on Vote Against Censuring Rep. Rashida Tlaib

By - Nov 7th, 2023 10:01 pm

“Rep. Rashida Tlaib is the only Palestinian-American in Congress and brings a valuable and often underrepresented perspective to our legislative body.

Her presence and voice in Congress enrich our national discourse, fostering a more comprehensive understanding of the complex issues facing our world.

As members of Congress, we can vehemently disagree with a colleague’s viewpoints without resorting to a censure to express one’s disapproval.”

Thank you Gwen. Unfortunately the Democratic Party is littered with with weak, ineffectual members of which 22 voted to censure Tlaib. The only way we get better as a country is a stronger Democratic Party in opposition to the GOP. Good Democrats like Gwen Moore have to call these members out. (From another article) the 22 who voted for censure are Steve Cohen, Jim Costa, Angie Craig, Don Davis, Lois Frankel, Jared Golden, Dan Goldman, Josh Gottheimer, Greg Landsman, Susie Lee, Kathy Manning, Jared Moskowitz, Wiley Nickel, Chris Pappas, Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, Pat Ryan, Brad Schneider, Kim Schrier, Darren Soto, Ritchie Torres, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and Frederica Wilson.
