Representative Cruz Reacts to Governor Evers’ State of the State Address
MADISON, Wis – Today, Governor Tony Evers delivered his State of the State Address in the Wisconsin State Capitol, where he highlighted his vision for the next year.
Representative Angelina Cruz (D-Racine) released the following statement:
“I’m grateful for Governor Tony Evers’ leadership over these past six years, for Wisconsin wouldn’t be in such a strong position without it.
“This address highlighted the fact that Governor Evers has concrete plans to help working families make ends meet. Specifically, I am delighted to hear about his “Healthy Meals, Healthy Kids” initiative that aims to end school meal debt while providing healthy breakfast and lunch to all schoolchildren in Wisconsin.
“As I have said before, my history as a public school educator means that ensuring every single child is able to get a healthy school meal isn’t just good policy- it’s personal to me. I have seen firsthand what school meals being inaccessible and unaffordable can do to our children. Simply put, it’s hard to learn while having an empty stomach.
“Governor Evers declared 2025 the “Year of the Kid”, and I couldn’t agree more. Whether it’s by funding high-quality public education, providing healthy school meals for all, or eradicating gun violence in our schools, we have a moral obligation to serve our kids.
“Let’s get to work.”
