Representative Clinton Anderson and Senator Mark Spreitzer Introduce Resolution Supporting Wisconsin Farmers Hurt By Trump Agenda
MADISON – Today, Senator Mark Spreitzer (D-Beloit) and Representative Clinton Anderson (D-Beloit) introduced a resolution for co-sponsorship calling for a resolution to the Trump Administration’s trade war with China, which has had a devastating impact on Wisconsin soybean farmers. Rock County is the state’s leading soybean producer, and Senator Spreitzer and Representative Anderson have heard directly from concerned farmers whose businesses are actively being hurt by choices made by President Trump.
“Rock County helps feed Wisconsin, the United States, and the entire world. The irresponsible choices made by President Trump have led to local farmers being shut out of the world’s leading global consumer of soybeans. With rising costs across the board, it hurts Wisconsin farmers even more to have the price of their crops drastically drop and their profits slashed. President Trump can and must end this disastrous trade war.”
Representative Clinton Anderson:
“We must send a clear message that we do not support sending billions to bail out Argentina while Wisconsin soybean farmers are still paying the price for a trade war with China. I guess MAGA now stands for Make Argentina Great Again. Our farmers deserve better than being collateral damage in someone else’s political games.”
