Rep. Taylor Condemns $210 Million Federal Cuts to Wisconsin Health Services

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – This week, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services received notice that the Trump Administration plans to pull more than $210 million in federal funding from health services in Wisconsin that the state expected to receive. The grants provided funding for a variety of services, including the direct care for substance abuse and mental health.

Representative Taylor (D-Milwaukee) released the following statement:

“This is a direct attack on Wisconsin’s most vulnerable communities. Pulling over $210 million from our health services will have life-altering consequences for those struggling with addiction, mental health challenges, and other critical health needs. These programs save lives, and pulling their funding is irresponsible – it’s life threatening.

“This is the time where healthcare should be expanding and we should be making it easier for people to get the care they need, not harder. These cuts do the opposite – they take away vital resources and push people further from the help they need and depend on. I urge my colleagues at every level of government to fight back against these reckless decisions and put people over politics.”
