Rep. Robyn Vining Statement on Republican Attack on Voters and Elections

MADISON – Today, the Wisconsin State Assembly met to vote on a list of bills that attack our democracy and hinder Wisconsin’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, while ignoring the needs of Wisconsinites. Rep. Robyn Vining (D-Wauwatosa) released the following statement:

“The legislation passed today in the Wisconsin State Assembly attacks our elections, which have been proven time and time again to be safe, fair, and secure. Our clerks and local election officials worked hard through unprecedented challenges to ensure that voting was accessible and safe for everyone– we should celebrate them instead of trying to make their jobs harder.

“Clerks have been asking for changes to elections for years, but instead of listening to the nonpartisan experts and enacting the needed changes, Republicans have put forth a package of bills that makes it harder to vote, and harder to run elections. I stand today on the side of Wisconsin voters, non-partisan clerks, and democracy, and I oppose these bills.”

Rep. Vining represents the 14th Assembly District, which includes parts of Brookfield, Wauwatosa, and Milwaukee. For more information, visit Rep. Vining’s website here.
