Rep. Robyn Vining Reintroduces Pregnancy Protection Act
MADISON–Rep. Robyn Vining, Sen. Kelda Roys, and Sen. Dora Drake reintroduced the Pregnancy Protection Act today, a bill that would put into state law that maternity and newborn care are essential health benefits and insurance plans must cover them. Rep. Robyn Vining (D-Wauwatosa) released the following statement.
“Maternity care coverage benefits both women and children–improving health outcomes for both! Prenatal and postnatal healthcare can identify and treat complications of pregnancy, such as preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, ectopic pregnancies, life-threatening mental health concerns, infection, and other potentially life-threatening complications for mother and child.
“I am proud to fight for Wisconsin women and children by once again introducing the Pregnancy Protection Act. Wisconsin women deserve to be fought for, and maternal healthcare should not be a partisan issue. Forward, together.”
Rep. Vining represents the 13th Assembly District, which includes Elm Grove, and parts of Wauwatosa and Brookfield. For more information visit Rep. Vining’s website here.
