Rep. Madison Joins Legislative Effort to Protect Immigrant Communities in Wisconsin
MADISON, WI – Today, legislative advocates for immigrants in Wisconsin gathered to denounce the Trump Administration’s threats of violence against our communities, calling for legislation that would prohibit government employees from assisting in detentions related to immigration status.
Representative Madison (D-10) issued the following statement:
“Above all, legislative Democrats and community advocates are driven by our commitment to the safety and wellbeing of all our neighbors –of everyone in the state of Wisconsin.
It’s no coincidence that this anti-immigrant fury is stoked by Trump and other aspiring billionaires –it’s long been his practice to heap blame on the vulnerable and needy instead of serving them.
We, however, are committed to joining the fight on the ground and in the Capitol. We uplift state government as a force for good, as an expression of our common need for care and community, and as a necessary bulwark against any and all of Trump’s attempts at tyranny.”
