Rep. Fitzgerald Statement on Passage of the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05) issued the following statement after voting to pass H.R. 6703, the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act.

“When it comes to Obamacare, we can’t keep writing blank checks for a heavily subsidized program that continues to drive up costs. After 15 years, the reality is undeniable: Obamacare has failed to live up to its promises. Premiums have skyrocketed, patient choice has been taken away, and taxpayers are left footing the bill for waste, fraud, and abuse in the program.

“That’s why the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act provides substantive health reforms that will benefit all Americans, not just the 7% of people on Obamacare’s exchanges. It codifies the Trump Administration’s 2019 Health Reimbursement Arrangement Rule, and the 2018 Trump Administration Rules on Association Health Plans. It also appropriates cost-sharing reduction subsidies to lower premiums and federal spending and enacts pharmacy benefit manager transparency.

“These measures will actually bring cost relief to Wisconsin families, rather than giving away money to insurance companies for a failed program.”
