Rep. Donovan Invites Governor Evers for Neighborhood Walks
Madison – Representative Bob Donovan (R-Greenfield) issued the following statement after inviting Governor Tony Evers to join him on a neighborhood walk of some of Milwaukee’s most challenged areas. The invitation follows Governor Evers’s State of the State Address and the notable absence of any mention of Milwaukee or Milwaukee County.
“Last night, I heard much about collaboration and the importance of working toward common goals,” said Rep. Donovan. “However, what is often left unsaid can be just as significant. I don’t need to itemize the issues plaguing Milwaukee, but I was surprised by the absence of any real solutions to address these challenges. Especially considering the impact that Milwaukee County has on the rest of the state.”
As an Alderman, Rep. Donovan routinely walked his district with local officials to observe and directly address community issues. Now, as Chairman of the Assembly Committee on Urban Revitalization, Rep. Donovan hopes to invite local and state leaders to once again witness the urban decay that has plagued our communities.
“Public officials often lose sight of the struggle of the average citizen. It is essential that we remain connected to these issues and understand their real impact,” said Rep. Donovan. “I recall my first interaction with Speaker Vos was during a neighborhood walk in Milwaukee years ago—it was an eye-opening experience. I invite anyone, including the Governor, to witness firsthand the urgency of the situation,” concluded Rep. Donovan.
