raSmith Provides Multi-Disciplinary Services for Reconstruction of Root River Parkway
Collaboration With Milwaukee County Parks and Milwaukee County Engineering Leads to Enhanced Safety, Access, and Sustainability

BROOKFIELD, Wis. — raSmith, a multi-disciplined civil and structural engineering and surveying firm, provided land surveying, civil engineering, site design, and landscape architecture services to Milwaukee County Parks for the reconstruction of nearly one-half mile of the Root River Parkway adjacent to the Whitnall Beer Garden in the village of Greendale. The beer garden held its grand opening on Friday, May 5.
The project included widening the roadway, adding a 10-foot-wide asphalt path with safety and access considerations for pedestrians and bicyclists, and the redesign of the parking lot. The addition of bio-infiltration basins to the north of the roadway improves stormwater quality and reduces runoff. The raSmith team also designed a new trail to the beer garden and provided landscape architecture services that included a tree protection plan and new plantings to enhance the parking and beer garden areas. This project was a collaborative team effort with Milwaukee County Parks and Milwaukee County Engineering.About raSmith
