Racine Native and National Security Expert Roger Polack to Run for Congress
Civilian Intelligence Official Polack Served Multiple Tours in Afghanistan Shutting Down Terrorist Financing Networks
RACINE, WI — Roger Polack, a Racine native, national security expert, and attorney, today announced his candidacy for United States Congress in Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District. Polack, a Democrat and father of two young children, served in the U.S. Department of the Treasury under both the Bush and Obama administrations. During his decade of service, he identified and helped stop funding to al-Qaida affiliated terrorist groups, deployed to Afghanistan multiple times working to shut down Taliban financing networks and expose government corruption, ensured that foreign investments in the U.S. – particularly those from China – did not harm our national security, and worked to stop Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
“I’m running for Congress because Washington is dominated by politicians who put corporate special interests and their own political careers ahead of the needs of people who work for a living, like the family and friends I grew up with right here in Racine,” said Polack. “Instead of getting ahead, families are struggling, whole school districts are failing to meet the needs of our kids, and access to quality, affordable health care and reasonably priced prescription drugs are out of reach for too many.”
About Roger Polack
Roger Polack grew up in Racine, one of four children in a blue-collar family that struggled financially. After graduating from Horlick High School, he put himself through UW-Madison and then joined the U.S. Department of the Treasury, serving in the Bush and Obama administrations as an intelligence analyst and then senior policy advisor. Polack deployed to Afghanistan multiple times for a total of 20 months, ultimately serving as head of intelligence for a cell that worked to shut down the Taliban’s financing pipeline and expose corruption in Afghanistan. Upon returning from Afghanistan, he attended law school at Georgetown University in the evenings while continuing to work full-time on some of the most pressing national security concerns our country faces. He ensured that foreign investments in the U.S., in particular those from China, did not endanger our national security, and he worked to stop Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Since then, he’s served as an attorney focusing on public international law and investigations. Polack is married to his wife Amanda (nee’ Romsa), also from Racine, and they have two young children together. He’s running for Congress because he wants to continue serving our country and ensure that every family, just like his own, has the opportunity to build a better life for themselves.
