Public Safety and Health Committee meeting set for Tuesday, December 8th

The Public Safety and Health Committee will take up the nomination of Leon Todd to be the next executive director of the Fire and Police Commission – and an FPC board appointment and reappointment – when it meets virtually at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8^th.

Alderwoman Marina Dimitrijevic, chair of the Public Safety and Health Committee, said Mayor Barrett’s nomination of Mr. Todd requires close examination and public input, as do the reappointment to the FPC board of Ann Wilson and the appointment of Amanda Avalos.

“The importance of the executive director of the Fire and Police Commission has been brought to the fore during the past year, and it is vital that the Council and community be involved in a public forum where Mr. Todd can be asked questions and provided a chance to share his vision for the future of the Commission,” Alderwoman Dimitrijevic said, noting the same opportunity should be provided to Ms. Wilson and Ms. Avalos.

“I strongly encourage citizens to use the ‘e-comment’ tool in our Legistar system to offer input and any questions they believe should be asked of Mr. Todd, or of Ms. Wilson and Ms. Avalos,” she said.

Public comment is encouraged for the files and those wishing to provide input should follow the e-comment instructions below.
