PSI Chairman Johnson, House Judiciary Chairman Jordan, and Rep. Loudermilk Sent Letters to AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and the FBI About the Unsolved January 6, 2021 Pipe Bomb Investigation
WASHINGTON – Yesterday, Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations Chairman Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), and Representative Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.) sent letters to AT&T Inc., T-Mobile USA, Inc., Verizon Communications Inc., and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) seeking answers about the FBI’s use of cellular data in the investigation into the pipe bombs that were discovered on Jan. 6, 2021 in Washington, D.C.
However, according to a Jan. 2, 2025 House Subcommittee report, the major cellular carriers stated that they neither provided “corrupted” data to the FBI nor received any notification from the FBI of any issues accessing the cellular data.
The bicameral letters requested the cellular carriers and the FBI provide the actual data that was analyzed for the Senate Subcommittee and House Committee to review and all communications between the FBI and the cellular carriers regarding the FBI’s request and analysis of the data.
