Project Clean and Green comes to the 5th District beginning May 5
Alderman Lamont Westmoreland wants to remind residents that the annual program providing free bulky item collection for Milwaukee residents is returning to the 5th District starting Monday, May 5. The City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works initiative Project Clean & Green will occur from May 5-16. By 7 a.m. of your regular garbage collection day, items that you wish to be collected should be placed at your regular garbage collection point. In most cases, everything will be picked up on garbage collection day, but please allow through the following business day for all items to be collected.
“The annual Clean and Green initiative is a great way to build up neighborhood pride and encourage residents to take ownership of their surroundings through organized clean-up efforts. I encourage all residents to take advantage of this excellent free program,” Alderman Westmoreland said.
Collection crews will collect up to six cubic yards per property of unwanted furniture, mattresses, or household items; they will also collect garden debris that is placed in paper yard waste bags. Please note that Project Clean and Green will not collect appliances, tires, televisions, and other electronics such as computers, printers, and tablets. Hazardous waste such as construction debris, paint, and motor oil will also not be collected. Please make use of Department of Public Works Drop Off Centers to safely dispose of those materials. Residents can call 414-286-CITY or visit https://milwaukee.gov/cleanandgreen to learn more.
