Prayers for former President Nelson Mandela
Statement of Alderman Joe Davis, Sr.
Yesterday I received the following correspondence from South African Consul General Vuyiswa G. Tulelo (Chicago):
Dear Alderman Davis,
In light of former South African President Nelson Mandela‘s hospitalization, the South African representatives around the world have been requested to reach out to their respective communities.
I respectfully call on all the faith-based communities in the Midwest to dedicate their time of prayer this weekend to the health and well-being of Madiba, as well as the healing of the South African nation.
Your support is greatly appreciated.

As a South African Honorary Consul, I am respectfully asking Milwaukeeans and peace-loving individuals everywhere to take a moment this weekend to pray for Nelson Mandela. Mr. Mandela dedicated his life to peace, justice, and healing, and I believe our prayers for him will be felt around the world, and especially in South Africa.
I sincerely thank all for help with this humble request.

All media enquiries regarding the health of former President Nelson Mandela should be directed to the South African Embassy in Washington, DC.
