Pocan Statement on Fourth Anniversary of January 6th Insurrection

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Mark Pocan (WI-02) released the following statement on the fourth anniversary of the January 6th attack on the Capitol and the certification of the Electoral College for the 2024 Presidential election.

“It’s been four years since the chants of ‘Hang Mike Pence’ echoed through the Capitol, but those sights and sounds from that day will never leave me. January 6th was one of the darkest days in our nation’s history and will forever be a stain on our nation’s long-held tradition of a peaceful transfer of power. And yet, many of my colleagues on the other side of the aisle still deny that their cult leader was responsible. While I wish the 2024 election results turned out differently, I will be voting to certify the Electoral College because the peaceful transfer of power is what makes American democracy work.”
