Perimenopause & Menopause Education Bill Passed Out of Senate Committee–Unanimously!
Madison – Today the Senate Committee on Health passed the Perimenopause Menopause Education Bill (Senate Bill 356) unanimously. Rep. Robyn Vining (D-Wauwatosa) released the following statement:
“This bill requires the Wisconsin Department of Health Services to partner with healthcare providers to educate women on the symptoms, processes, and other issues surrounding perimenopause and menopause. I am thrilled to see this bill move forward with unanimous support so we can get Wisconsin women the care they deserve, and I hope to see it on the Senate floor for a vote soon.
“Now, it’s our turn. I look forward to working with Democrats and Republicans in the Assembly to move this bill forward. Wisconsin women have a right to know what’s happening to their bodies, and this bill provides an opportunity to change Wisconsin women’s lives and set them on a healthier path.
“Thank you to Senator Hesselbein and Senator Cabral-Guevara for leading this bill in the Senate, and to Senators Testin, James, Smith, and Drake for supporting this bill in committee. And thank you to Representatives DeSanto, Emerson, Bare, Brown, Cruz, DeSmidt, J. Jacobson, Joers, Johnson, Miresse, Ortiz-Velez, Palmeri, Prado, Roe, Snodgrass, Stroud, Tenorio, Udell, Sinicki, Fitzgerald and Haywood for supporting this bill in the Assembly.
To my Assembly and Senate colleagues: let’s get this done so we can move Wisconsin forward, together.”
