Open message from Alderman Lamont Westmoreland
June 27, 2024
Dear Reckless Driver:
I’m sick and tired of you. You’re not a bat flying out of hell nor are you fleeing a hurricane. This isn’t a video game where you can start over. Reckless driving puts hundreds of thousands of innocent lives at risk, and I care about each one of them, including yours—even if you don’t. The result of your actions could decide who makes it back home and who doesn’t. Slow the HELL down today, tomorrow, and EVERY DAY. Your actions matter.
By the way, I’m still coming for you, which will result in foot to the neck suffocating consequences. But, first we need urgency and cooperation from lawmakers in Madison, which hasn’t been existent in relation to ridding us of the soft and lukewarm penalties we currently have in place. For those who need it in a language other than English, here’s the simple short translation of the message:
Spanish: Despacio
Hmong: Maj mam
Arabic: على رسلك
German: Bitte: Verlangsamen Sie die Geschwindigkeit
