On First Day As WisDems Chair, Devin Remiker Lays Out the Stakes of the 2026 Election
MADISON, Wis. — Today, Devin Remiker, at the conclusion of his first day as Chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, released the following statement:
“The ladder to the American Dream has been pulled up rung by rung while Republicans lecture us to pull ourselves up by the bootstraps— when they already cut the laces and sold the boots. Behind boardroom doors, Republicans auction off our schools, our healthcare, and our very communities while privatizing the profits and expecting us to bail out their losses. As Republicans pour more champagne for their billionaire owners, the working class drowns in a red tide of rising prices and debt. We each only have one voice, one vote, and one way out of the hole they want to bury us in— we need to lift each other up, grab on tight, and reclaim the American Dream for those who built it in the first place.
“I’ve seen firsthand in my hometown of Two Rivers how out-of-control corporate greed has rigged the game against the working class. Both my grandfathers worked for decades at good-paying, family-supporting union jobs at the same factory, pursuing the American Dream– an idea that today seems as foreign as the place those very same jobs were shipped to.
“As Chair, I will work tirelessly to earn back the trust of those who feel left behind or let down. Our Party will defend those who are under attack, extend a helping hand up to those who are downtrodden, and unite us together to take back our state, our country, and our American Dream in 2026 and beyond.”
In response, and on behalf of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, Executive Director Sarah Abel released the following statement:
“Devin has been in every knockdown, drag-out political fight over the past six years as a key architect of outcomes that have led to a better Wisconsin, and we’re grateful to have his leadership as our new Chair. He’s taken on the biggest challenges and won. Devin knows what this job takes and will lead us in the fight against the rightward drag Republicans seem determined to take us on.”
