Milwaukee, WI –Friday, September 13, 2019 – Long time Third Ward favorite, Red Elephant Chocolate, has partnered with Jake Dehne of Sydra Group to bring Nicole’s Third Ward Social to the Third Ward right across the street from the Public Market.
Long time Milwaukee nightlife and restaurant veteran, Jake Dehne, formed Sydra Group earlier this year. It is a marketing, management, and consulting company that owns and manages RWB and Buckhead Back Bar Saloon on Old World Third Street, an Airbnb company, and now Nicole’s Third Ward Social. Jake Dehne has 20 years of experience owning, concepting, and operating popular Milwaukee nightlife locations like Have a Nice Day Café, Bar Milwaukee, Upper 90 Sports Pub, Suite Nightclub and Buckhead Saloon.
“A great opportunity came up to team up with Red Elephant Chocolate owner Richard Koenings in an outstanding location. We saw that we could introduce a new concept with wine, craft beer, classic ice cream drinks, and the same Red Elephant chocolate in a more casual and social atmosphere” said Jake Dehne. “I decided to develop and design Nicole’s with my wife, Nicole, and Richard’s wife Sharon in mind. It made perfect sense to develop the concept directed at what they and their friends, across generations, are separately looking for when they go out in the Third Ward while also complementing its growing social scene. It will be a place to sit and talk and enjoy each other’s company with a great vibe and delicious wine and dessert drinks.”
Richard Koenings went on to say, “Red Elephant is growing up; we are going to transition to focus on events, wholesale, and internet sales while still selling our most popular items at Nicole’s. This partnership allows me to also focus on my separate ‘Chak’Atl’ cocoa bean beverage SuperFood product business, and Jake Dehne brings tons of experience to help with this retail transition to an expanded full-service bar and social lounge, and we couldn’t be more excited.”
Nicole’s Third Ward Social will target the before or after dinner crowds with classic ice cream drinks like the grasshopper or brandy alexander, but we will also have a welcoming wine list and craft beer selection. Nicole’s added a 50-person room that will be a perfect setting for a business mixer, private party, post wedding get together, or a ladies night out event. The room will be open to everyone when not booked with a several couches and tables for talking the day or night away. Nicole’s will continue to hold Red Elephant chocolate classes once a month but now will add wine and chocolate tastings, whiskey samplings, and assortments of art and wine events. The bar area will have an Artist of the Month displaying local artist’s works for sale. Our feature display of huge angel wings by local artist Britt Musial will be a draw for customers to take pictures and share.
Nicole’s grand opening will be Friday and Saturday September 27th and 28th. Our regular business hours will be Wednesday and Thursday opening at 1pm and closing at 12am. Friday we will open at 4pm and close at 2am. On Saturday and Sunday, we will open at 11am and close at 2am on Saturday and 12am on Sunday. Special events can be scheduled for any day.

As part of our commitment to the Milwaukee’s entertainment and hospitality industries, we wanted to provide a place where you can get great drinks and have endless conversations with your friends or family. We want our customers to feel comfortable and enjoy what the Third Ward has to offer. Being a in a tourist location we will feature local beers and we are teaming up with West Allis Cheese Shop to offer Lutz Bloody Marys and custom cheese and meat plates. My hopes are to grow this concept to the suburbs next year.”

About Jake Dehne
Jake Dehne has operated in the Milwaukee nightlife scene on Old World 3rd Street since 2001 starting with operations at Bar Milwaukee and Have A Nice Day Café. He worked through the rebranding of Bar Milwaukee to Buckhead Saloon and HAND Café to Suite Nightclub eventually buying both in 2011. He opened Upper 90 Sports Pub with Seth Dehne in 2011 and closed it in 2017 with their partnership with Point Burger Express in the same building that they own at 322 W State Street. In 2014, he and his brother Seth Dehne rebranded Suite into The Pub Club and in 2015 Buckhead into Red White and Blue. In March of 2018 Jake took sole ownership of Red White and Blue while selling his interest in The Pub Club. Jake is very active in the Milwaukee community and at RWB. He met his wife, Nicole, in 2001 and since they have been together and married for 13 years with 2 daughters.

Richard Koenings has been a business and legal entrepreneur in the Milwaukee area for almost 50 years, most recently having taken up the chocolate and cocoa bean beverage businesses since 2012 after several local business turn around projects.
