NEWaukee to Host Event Featuring Local, State Representatives Next Thursday

Political Open Mic with Bridge the City to Include Justice Rebecca Dallet, State Representative Evan Goyke, District Attorney John T. Chisholm and more

Milwaukee, Wisc. March 14, 2019 — As the spring election season approaches, NEWaukee and Bridge the City Podcast are collaborating to host a Political Open Mic on the topic of peace, crime and justice in Milwaukee.

“We want to foster respect and positivity between attendees and speakers,” explains Jeremy Fojut, Co-Founder and Chief Idea Officer of NEWaukee. “This event is all about productive solutions rather than ideological tribes.”

WHAT: The free, public event will give residents, elected officials, nonprofit leaders, and the business community a platform to share innovative solutions to the challenges they face in Milwaukee around criminal justice and the judiciary. Drinks from MobCraft will be available to purchase.

WHO: Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett will introduce the program. Featured panelists will include Reggie Moore, Director of the Office of Violence Prevention; Evan Goyke, State Representative; John T. Chisholm, Milwaukee County District Attorney; and Katie Sanders, Executive Director of Safe & Sound. Justice Rebecca Dallet, newly elected Justice on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, and Dr. Patrick J. Wolf, Distinguished Professor of Education Policy at the University of Arkansas College of Education and Health Professions, will each present their ideas and solutions to tackle criminal justice challenges.

WHEN: Thursday, March 21 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

  • 6:00 to 6:10 p.m. – Networking
  • 6:10 to 6:20 p.m. – Introduction from Mayor Tom Barrett
  • 6:20 to 7:10 p.m. – Panel discussion
  • 7:10 to 7:40 p.m. – New ideas
  • 7:40 to 7:55 p.m. – Open mic from the audience
  • 7:55 to 8:00 p.m. – Closing remarks
