New Fitness and Lifestyle Studio, Afterglow MKE, Opens in Bay View
So much of our time is dictated by obligations – your job, school, family, housework, and the never-ending to-do list running through your mind – that we rarely take time for ourselves. Afterglow MKE, Bay View’s newest fitness and lifestyle studio, aims to change that by providing a welcoming, comfortable place for Milwaukeeans to care for their body and mind.
Afterglow is a small, locally-owned fitness studio located at 2442 S. Kinnickinnic Avenue specializing in Barre and Pilates. Stepping into Afterglow, you’ll be greeted with an aesthetically pleasing environment, friendly and welcoming instructors, and a challenging but accessible workout. The goal of Afterglow is for everyone to leave each class feeling respected, energized, and refreshed.
“Regardless of where you are on your fitness journey, everyone deserves to have a place to come where they feel comfortable, confident, and supported,” said Afterglow owner Auttumn Kirchner. “Afterglow is a community where everyone is not only welcome but more importantly wanted and valued. We’ve worked hard to create a space that encourages community, inclusion, and acceptance so everyone feels empowered to work toward their fitness goals, whatever they may be.”
Afterglow currently offers five class types:
- Barre: Inspired by ballet and Pilates, Barre is a low-impact, highly-effective method of training to improve posture, increase flexibility, and define muscles. Combining strength training with static stretching, Barre focuses on isolating muscle groups through high repetitions with low weights.
- Mat Pilates: In Mat Pilates, each exercise emphasizes breath, core conditioning, and body awareness. Long, slow movements and holds challenge your muscles in this strengthening and lengthening workout.
- Sweat 30: Get your heart pumping with this high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout that adds a cardio exercise with heavier weights into your workout schedule.
- Core + More: Target your abs, back, and glutes with this high-energy class that enhances the mind-body connection using a series of controlled exercises to increase core strength, flexibility, and mobility.
- Bend + Chill: This restorative class includes breathwork, long-held slow stretches, and guided or unguided meditation. Take 30 minutes to slow your mind and practice mindfulness for holistic health.
