StriveTogether, a national movement working to help every child succeed in school and in life from cradle to career, regardless of race, ethnicity, zip code or circumstance, is convening in Milwaukee on May 10 and 11 to connect, share learning, and collaborate around kindergarten readiness and early childhood education outcomes. In total, representatives from 12 communities of the StriveTogether Cradle to Career Network are participating in the two-day event.

Alderwoman Marina Dimitrijevic, a champion of early childhood efforts locally in Milwaukee, welcomed the coalition to Milwaukee today and discussed the importance of municipalities investing in the early childhood space. “Groups like StriveTogether are doing great work to bring partners from diverse areas to the table to share their expertise and show what’s possible when we work together,” she said. “Locally, I have helped champion investments in early childhood education including the Early Childhood Workforce Stipend Program to help properly compensate and stabilize the workforce. As a mother, I can’t think of a better investment than programs like these that uplift our families, and I look forward to continuing the conversation about how we can better support children and families throughout our community.”

The two-day convening is designed for communities to take collaborative action to shift practices, policies, resources, and power structures to advance work and scale impact in communities and across the country. In partnership with nearly 70 communities across the country, StriveTogether provides resources, best practices and processes to give every child every chance for success. The StriveTogether Cradle to Career Network reaches 14 million young people, including 8 million children of color and nearly one in five children experiencing poverty in the United States.
