MPD Officer Shot
MILWAUKEE, WI – On Thursday, January 27, 2022, at approximately 6:27 p.m., a Milwaukee Police Department officer was dispatched to a sick/injured person on the 2100 block of W. St. Paul Avenue. The caller stated that there was an individual slumped in a vehicle.
On arrival, the officer encountered the individual that was slumped in a vehicle. The individual attempted to flee and brandished a firearm. The officer and the suspect exchanged gunfire. Both the suspect and the officer were struck.
The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries.
The suspect, a 22-year-old male, sustained non-fatal injuries. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The officer is a 26-year-old male with over seven years of service. He sustained non-fatal injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He will be placed on administrative duty as is routine in officer involved shootings.
The Milwaukee Police Department Homicide Division is leading the investigation. The investigation is fluid and ongoing. Criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the upcoming days.
