MKE Airport Awarded Federal Funding from Bipartisan Infrastructure Law
MILWAUKEE (February 27, 2023) – The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced that Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE) will receive $5.1 million in federal funding from the 2023 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The announcement represents MKE’s portion of $1 billion of funding going to 99 airports nationwide. At MKE, these funds will be used to replace roof areas over Concourse D that are nearing the end of their useful life.
“It’s great that MKE successfully obtained this funding, which helps us avoid most of the bonding for this project, offsets future maintenance costs and sustains Concourse D’s roof for many years to come,” Airport Director Brian Dranzik added.
Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE), the winner of a 2021 ASQ Best Airport – North America award for outstanding customer experience, is owned by Milwaukee County and operated by the Department of Transportation, Airport Division, under the policy direction of the Milwaukee County Executive and the County Board of Supervisors. The Airport is entirely funded by user fees; no property tax dollars are used for the Airport’s capital improvements or for its day-to-day operation.
