Milwaukee to Formalize Sister City Relationship with Kragujevac, Serbia on January 26

Sister Cities Committee Chair Alderman Russell W. Stamper, II and Alderwoman Marina Dimitrijevic will join Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson, and Mayor Nikola Daŝić from Kragujevac, Serbia to sign a Sister City agreement between the two cities on Friday, January 26. The special event will take place from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the Common Council Chambers at City Hall, 200 E. Wells St.

The event will include remarks and the agreement signing at 11:30 a.m., followed by entertainment, food, refreshments and a celebration in the first floor rotunda of City Hall immediately following the signing. Additional events will also be hosted in conjunction with the formal Sister City signing ceremony, including a welcome reception on Thursday, January 25 and a dinner celebration on Friday, January 26. Both events will be held at American Serb Hall. All events are hosted in partnership with St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Cathedral.

Kragujevac, Serbia will mark Milwaukee’s seventh active Sister City relationship. Milwaukee’s additional Sister Cities include: Galway, Ireland; Zadar, Croatia; Bomet County, Kenya; Tarime District, Tanzania; Irpin, Ukraine; and Abuja, Nigeria.
