Milwaukee Preservation Alliance Launches Free Curriculum to Teach Students the Legacy of the Milwaukee Soldiers Home
New educational resources to bring local history into classrooms across the state
MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Preservation Alliance (MPA) has launched a new curriculum for Wisconsin schools, focusing on the rich history of the Milwaukee Soldiers Home. Through engaging lessons, students in grades 7-9 will gain valuable insights into the Soldiers Home’s connections to Abraham Lincoln, the crucial role women played in its establishment, and the significance of historic preservation.
The new curriculum is available for free download at www.savethesoldiershome.com/curriculum, making it easily accessible to Wisconsin educators.
“This curriculum is a fantastic resource for teachers looking to expand their students’ understanding of local history,” said Jackie Jecha, Milwaukee educator and MPA volunteer. “I look forward to teaching it in my own classroom!”
