Milwaukee Police involved in serious vehicle accident
On Thursday, May 14, 2020, at approximately 6:32 a.m., on the 3000 block of West North Ave, Milwaukee police officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a stolen vehicle that was taken in a burglary. The vehicle refused to pull over and subsequently led officers on a brief vehicle pursuit.
The fleeing vehicle subsequently crashed into another vehicle on the 3000 block of West Fond Du Lac Ave, at which time the passenger of the fleeing vehicle was ejected and struck by a Milwaukee Police squad car. The driver of the fleeing vehicle fled on foot and was apprehended after short foot pursuit.
The passenger of the fleeing vehicle is a 30 year old Milwaukee man, who was transported to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition. The driver, a 35 year old Milwaukee man, was taken into custody and was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries. Criminal charges will be presented to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the upcoming days. No one in the other vehicle was injured.
The officer involved in this incident is a 26 year old male who has six and a half years of service. Per Milwaukee Police Department Standard Operating Procedures, the officer has been placed on administrative duty. The Milwaukee Area Investigative Team will be investigating this incident and the West Allis Police Department will be the lead law enforcement agency in the investigation.
