Milwaukee Fire Department Announces New Organizational Changes and Personnel Enhancements in Response to 2025 Budget
In response to the recently adopted 2025 City of Milwaukee Budget, the Milwaukee Fire Department (MFD) is implementing key organizational and personnel changes to enhance public safety and operational efficiency within the Fire Department. These changes, effective November 2024, include the introduction of Med 14 to the 11th Aldermanic District as part of the department’s ongoing commitment to meet the growing needs of the community.
Key Organizational Changes and Personnel Updates:
- Med 14 Relocation: Med 14 is relocating from Station 33 in West Milwaukee to Station 10 located at 5600 W. Oklahoma Ave. in the 11th Aldermanic District. This move reflects a targeted expansion of the Fire Department’s medical capabilities to better serve residents in this high-need area.
- Enhanced Resources: The 2025 budget increased overall EMS units in the city, and adds a fourth EMS unit to the South Side of Milwaukee. This means that Med 14 can relocate to within the 11th Aldermanic District and be closer to Milwaukee residents in case of medical emergencies.
Impact on the Community:
This reorganization is part of a broader effort to improve response times, reduce strain on existing resources, and deliver more efficient, high-quality emergency services across Milwaukee. The introduction of Med 14 to the 11th Aldermanic District is expected to significantly improve service delivery for both emergency medical calls and fire-related incidents in the region.
