MILWAUKEE (January 10, 2024) – Erica Green (formerly Chang) has been named Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21’s new Director of Public Space Initiatives. Green served as Milwaukee Downtown’s Marketing, Events and Social Media Director from 2016-2021. During her absence from Milwaukee Downtown, she held positions with UW-Milwaukee’s School of Architecture & Urban Planning, Source TEN and Punch PR. Green will rejoin the organization on Wednesday, Jan. 17.

“We are thrilled to welcome Erica Green back to our organization,” said Beth Weirick, CEO of Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21. “After a comprehensive search, Erica’s resume rose to the top. Her experience in this industry and her dedication to being a strong partner and relationship-builder, made her the ideal candidate for this position. I am confident she will transition into the Director of Public Space Initiatives role seamlessly.”

During her tenure with Milwaukee Downtown, Green can be credited to enhancing and expanding the organization’s core events, including Taste & Toast, Downtown Dining Week, Downtown Employee Appreciation Week, and the Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival. She also grew the organization’s social media following exponentially and navigated the challenges of COVID-19 with creative solutions that kept the organization and Downtown Milwaukee as a whole top of mind. In addition, Green is a graduate of the International Downtown Association’s Emerging Leaders Fellowship focused on leadership development and place management training. She will replace Gabriel Yeager who moved to Downtown Los Angeles to lead placemaking efforts for their business improvement district.

Some of the initiatives that will fall under Green’s purview include programming entertainment for PNC presents Tunes@Noon and Heart(beats) of the City powered by MGIC, activating Red Arrow Park with Big Truck Day and Jack-O-Lantern Jubilee, and identifying permanent and temporary public art opportunities in Downtown’s public spaces.

Green’s first order of business will be the implementation of the 3rd annual Downtown Ice CAPE-ade at Red Arrow Park on Saturday, Feb. 10. The superhero-themed event will combine free ice skating with opportunities to meet both comic book and everyday heroes.

“The opportunity to rejoin the Milwaukee Downtown team is a true dream for me,” said Erica Green. “I look forward to making an impact and transforming the public realm with vibrant and sustainable projects and initiatives.”
