Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley Statement on U.S. House of Representatives Budget Resolution
MILWAUKEE – Following the U.S. House of Representatives approving a federal budget resolution last evening, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley issued the following statement.
“At Milwaukee County, we greatly value the partnership of state and federal lawmakers in helping advance our vision to become the healthiest county in Wisconsin. Specifically, we’ve delivered results for Milwaukee County by working with federal partners to build more affordable housing, expand mental health services, and ensure our families and kids have access to the quality health services they need.
“My administration is tracking the budget resolution passed by the U.S. House of Representatives last evening to identify and understand potential impacts for Milwaukee County. However, I believe any proposed funding cuts for critical health services, like Medicaid and Medicare, are not in our best interests. Bottom line: Cutting federal funding for critical programs like Medicaid, Medicare, and others does not help improve health outcomes among families, children, seniors, people with disabilities, veterans, workers, and others in Milwaukee County.“I will be in Washington, D.C. next week as part of the National Association of Counties (NACo) Legislative Conference, where I will have the opportunity to discuss Milwaukee County’s priorities with White House officials and federal lawmakers. I am looking forward to engaging in conversations on the importance of adequate federal funding for our community, in ensuring Milwaukee County can invest in our people, foster stronger neighborhoods, and build the bright, healthy future we all deserve.”
