Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley Applauds Milwaukee County Health and Human Needs Committee for Approving Shakita LaGrant-McClain’s Appointment as Director of Health and Human Services
MILWAUKEE, WI – Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley applauded the Milwaukee County Health and Human Needs Committee’s approval of the appointment of Shakita LaGrant-McClain as the next Director of the Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS).
“I’m happy to see the Health and Human Needs Committee advanced the appointment of Shakita LaGrant-McClain,” said Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley. “ Milwaukee County desperately needs her strong leadership and wealth of experience at DHHS as we continue to fight the pandemic and work to ensure Milwaukee County residents are healthy and remain safe.”
Shakita LaGrant-McClain’s appointment is subject to confirmation from the entire County Board on September 24th. Should the County Board confirm the current recommendations next cycle, 46 percent of Milwaukee County department heads would be women and over half of department heads would be African-American – up from 31 percent when County Executive Crowley was sworn-in in May.
