MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors today took action to approve the Lease and Development Agreements that would allow for the redevelopment and restoration of the Mitchell Park Domes to occur, transferring the obligations from Milwaukee County to Milwaukee Domes Alliance. Moving one step closer to restoring one of Milwaukee’s most iconic landmarks and a cultural treasure for the community.

As part of today’s action, the Board approved Lease and Development Agreements that will enable the Domes Reimagined Project to move forward. This implements the policy established in 2025 Budget Amendment 6. The file allows for the transfer of obligations from Milwaukee County to the Milwaukee Domes Alliance to ensure the project’s success.

“The Mitchell Park Domes are part of who we are as Milwaukeeans. They hold history, culture, and natural beauty under one roof,” said Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson. “This Board has long made clear that we are committed to restoring and redeveloping the Domes so that families can continue to learn, celebrate, and gather here for generations to come. This redevelopment is about investing in our neighborhoods, creating opportunities for education, recreation, and tourism that benefit the whole county.”

Supervisor Juan Miguel Martinez, whose district includes Mitchell Park, highlighted the importance of honoring community input: “The south side community has been loud and clear — they want the Domes, but most importantly, the surrounding neighborhood, to thrive. This investment is about listening to our residents, valuing their voices, and building a future where the Domes remain a source of pride for Milwaukee County.”

The Board’s action builds on prior approvals and partnerships to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Domes. The facility continues to serve as a hub for cultural programming, educational field trips, weddings, and community events.
