Milwaukee Bucks to Host Second Annual Analytics Hackathon
MILWAUKEE (March 6, 2023) – The Milwaukee Bucks will host their second annual Analytics Hackathon this month.
The Bucks Hackathon, a competitive, team-based experience for undergraduate college students, offers participants the opportunity to find innovative solutions to pressing challenges to the basketball and business sides of the Bucks organization by using analytics. Teams of 4-5 college students can enter to answer either the basketball or business questions and put together a presentation on their findings to give to Bucks executives.
“After last year’s successful debut, our second annual Analytics Hackathon is a great opportunity for students to flex their creative and analytical minds to solve business problems, network with sports professionals and showcase their talent,” said Sumathi Thiyagarajan, Bucks Vice President of Business Strategy and Analytics.
“The Analytics Hackathon helps us identify rising stars in the sports analytics industry and generates new solutions to the questions we face,” said TJ Barra, Bucks Director of Research and Innovation. “We’re eager to see how the talented teams will tackle this year’s competition.”
Each track will have first, second and third place winners. The first-place team for each track will win tickets to a Bucks home game during the 2023-24 season and transportation and hotel in Milwaukee, if necessary. The second and third place teams will each win gift cards to the Bucks Pro Shop.
