Milwaukee Ballet Wins High-Profile Advertising Industry Awards for Website Design
After extensive redesign, two awards recognize website for best homepage
MILWAUKEE – April 28, 2017 –Milwaukee Ballet has won two prestigious digital industry awards for its recently redesigned website. The honors include a Webby Award and a Webby People’s Voice Award for “Best Home Page,” across all categories as well as an honorable mention for best overall website in the charitable/non-profit category.
The Webby Awards are considered among the most-respected symbols of success in the digital and creative industries, and honor excellence in websites; film and video; advertising; media and public relations; social media; mobile apps and podcasts; and digital audio. The 21st Annual Webby Awards received 13,000 entries from nearly all 50 U.S. states and 70 countries worldwide.
The newly launched Milwaukee Ballet website was extensively redesigned to create an interactive digital experience befitting the Ballet’s status as a world-class arts organization. Milwaukee-based BVK, a full-service creative and marketing agency, developed a best-in-class website experience. The home page takes the user through an innovative circular navigation, immersing the viewer in a cinema quality video. The project was executed over a span of seven months and concepted and designed by BVK. The agency also partnered with video production house Saturn Lounge to create footage that showcased the beauty of the art form in the context of BVK’s stunning design.
“We are thrilled to have our new website recognized by one of the premier organizations in the digital and creative industry,” said Milwaukee Ballet’s Executive Director Julia Glawe. “Our website design and development partners, along with the Ballet’s marketing staff, were instrumental in helping us bring our ideas to life, creating this best-in-class design and elevating our online presence. We’re excited to showcase our new award-winning website to the Milwaukee community and beyond.”
Members of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS)—a 2,000+ member judging body—selected the nominees for both awards in each category, as well as the winners of The Webby Awards. In the spirit of the open Web, The Webby People’s Voice was awarded by the voting public. Each year, The Webby People’s Voice Awards garners millions of votes from all over the world. Significantly, Milwaukee Ballet earned both the industry and the popular vote.
