Traffic and parking are a breeze when you ride the Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) Straight to the Gate of German Fest. MCTS offers two easy ways to the festival, held July 25-28, 2013 at Henry Maier Festival Park: Shuttle service along Wisconsin Avenue and Freeway Flyers from five park-ride lots.
DOWNTOWN SHUTTLE SERVICE
Shuttles provide service roughly every 30 minutes from 4:30 pm to 11:30 pm on Thursday, July 25; 3:30 pm to 12:30 am on Friday, July 26; 11:30 am to 12:30 am on Saturday, July 27; and 9:00 am to 10:30 pm on Sunday, July 28. Buses operate in both directions along Wisconsin Avenue (see map). When traveling to German Fest, the Shuttle stops between N. 6th Street and N. Jackson Street, then proceeds directly to the Mid Gate. Stops are made at all bus stops marked with the Summerfest smile logo.
FREEWAY FLYER SERVICE
Festival-goers can catch a Freeway Flyer from the following park-ride lots (see map): Brown Deer East (Brown Deer Road, west of I-43), College (College Avenue, at I-94), Holt (Holt Avenue, west of I-94), State Fair Park (I-94, S. 76th and W. Kearney Street) and Watertown Plank Road (west of US Hwy. 45). Service operates every half-hour approximately on the hour and half-hour. Service is provided during all hours of the festival, beginning a half-hour before the event and ending a half-hour after the event.
NOTE: The overflow park-ride lot north of Watertown Plank Road has reduced parking available due to construction.
