Mayor Johnson Signs Files to Advance Policy Initiatives He Supports
Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson signed three files today that advance policy initiatives he supports.
Council File #221696 is a resolution encouraging activation of public spaces in the city right-of-way. Called the Milwaukee Interim Plaza program, the legislation allows residents, businesses, and organizations to create public gathering spaces. Led by Alderman Robert Bauman, the resolution establishes a permit process for the conversion of underutilized parts of roadways into public spaces.
And Council File #221725 directs city officials to purchase, to the greatest extent possible, low- or zero-emission vehicles in Milwaukee’s fleet. The Mayor strongly supports the goal of making city government as sustainable as possible. And, with this new ordinance sponsored by several Council members, every city department will have clear direction on the priorities for vehicle purchases.
“All these files advance Milwaukee’s priorities to be resident-focused and environmentally aware. I join a unanimous Common Council in supporting each of these files,” Mayor Johnson said.
