MILWAUKEE (Sept. 14, 2021) – Milwaukee Area Technical College will host a wide range of events in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from Sept. 15-Oct. 15 each year.

Organized by the college’s Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; Office  of Student Life; and the Latinx Unidos student organization; conversations range from timely discussions on “Latinx Leadership Post Pandemic,” DACA and immigration. Presenters will include Hispanic employees, students, college leaders and motivational speakers. Other activities include games, trivia, storytelling, arts and cultural crafts, dance lessons and competitions, a cooking lesson and movies.

“Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month is a way to recognize and celebrate the important contributions, cultures, and histories of the Hispanic community,” said Dr. Vicki J. Martin, MATC president. “The month is a great opportunity to celebrate a growing part of our community and our college.”

The free, public events will be held at all MATC Campuses in Downtown Milwaukee, Mequon, Oak Creek and West Allis and at the MATC Education Center at Walker’s Square. Visit https://www.matc.edu/community/hispanic-heritage-month/hhm-events.html for a complete calendar of activities.
