Marquette University offering full slate of events to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, Sept. 15-Oct. 15

MILWAUKEE — Marquette University will host a full slate of events to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.

  • The Hispanic/Latinx Faculty and Staff Association will lead the Orgullo Hispano March to kick-off Hispanic Heritage Month on Friday, Sept. 15, beginning at 1 p.m. Participants will meet in front of St. Joan of Arc Chapel and walk the Marquette Mile while displaying the flags of Latin America.
  • The Marquette Mile is the outer sidewalk surrounding the Central Mall, following Wisconsin Ave. to N. 11th St. to Tory Hill St./Clybourn St. to 16th St.
  • The Graduate School will host a tour of the Francisco Mora exhibit at Latino Arts Inc., 1928 S. 9th St., on Friday, Sept. 22, at 2 p.m. The fine arts institution is dedicated to exclusively showcasing the works of Hispanic and Latino artists.
  • The Office of Mission and Ministry will host “En Todo Amar y Servir” on Tuesday, Sept. 26, on Central Mall, to celebrate the anniversary of the Society of Jesus and Hispanic Heritage Month with Get Them While They’re Hot Tamales.
