MILWAUKEE — A partnership between Marquette University School of Dentistry and the Marquette Physical Therapy Clinic through the College of Health Sciences is offering a comprehensive treatment to patients suffering from temporomandibular disorders (TMD).

The School of Dentistry has openings for patients seeking a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach to their TMD pain. For more information on appointment availability, members of the general public can contact the Marquette Faculty Practice at (414) 288-0788.

“There are multiple factors that lead to TMD pain, and we feel this partnership is uniquely positioned to offer comprehensive treatment methods to an underserved patient base,” said Dr. Jeff Wilkens, director of the Marquette Physical Therapy Clinic. “Stress and posture are two key contributors in these disorders and those are being exacerbated by the added stress brought upon by pandemic, as well as those who are adapting to working from home more regularly.”

Marquette School of Dentistry’s faculty practice offers dental care by faculty in a state-of-the-art facility in the dental school. Patients benefit from an environment where innovation, learning and best practices are the norm.

The Marquette Physical Therapy Clinic is a full-service physical therapy and rehabilitation clinic open to the public, offering the expertise of specialty-trained, licensed physical therapists and faculty. The clinic utilizes evidence-based care backed by the latest research and experts from Marquette’s nationally ranked academic program.
