MacIver Celebrates Passage of Only Citizens Vote Amendment
MADISON — The John K. MacIver Institute for Public Policy notched a big win this week with the overwhelming passage of Wisconsin’s Only Citizens Vote Amendment. The amendment earned 70.5% support, including winning every county in the state, to ensure that only eligible citizens are allowed to vote in Wisconsin elections.
The MacIver Institute was a key proponent of the Only Citizens Vote Amendment and led an extensive public education campaign to encourage voters to support the measure. MacIver convened press conferences with elected officials from across the state to speak on the need for the amendment and ensure that only legal American citizens are allowed to choose their elected leaders. The MacIver Institute is a member of the national Only Citizens Vote Coalition, a coalition of citizens dedicated to protecting election integrity, to preserve the safeguards that ensure only American citizens are eligible to vote in all American elections—local, state, and federal—and that proof of United States citizenship must be required when registering to vote.
