Locust Street Festival returns to Riverwest this Sunday

By - Jun 9th, 2023 03:12 pm

The Riverwest based Locust Street Festival of Music and Art is set to return for the first time since 2019 this Sunday, June 11. The festival, which takes place on Locust Street from North Holton Street to North Humboldt Boulevard, will feature an entire day of local music, art, vendors, food and much more.

The day formally gets underway at 11:30 a.m. with the Locust Street Beer Run, a 1.6-mile run through Riverwest with four Lakefront beer stops along the route, and six outdoor music stages are among the attractions that will be set up throughout the festival running until 8 p.m.

Alderperson Jonathan Brostoff and Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs, who jointly represent Riverwest, are thrilled that the festival returns this weekend.

“The Riverwest neighborhood and Locust Street in particular are such vibrant areas in our city, and the community really missed this festival the last few years,” said Alderperson Brostoff. “We worked very hard with local leaders to ensure this festival was brought back and could be successful. I can’t wait to see everyone out and having a great time Sunday.”

Alderwoman Coggs shares the sentiment. “Milwaukee has so many great street festivals each and every year, and I believe the Locust Street Festival is among them. This festival has something for everyone, and I encourage neighbors, area residents, and especially those who have never been to Riverwest to join in the fun and festivities,” she said.
