Local Woman Seeks to Open Wisconsin’s Only Black owned Bookstore with Community Support
Milwaukee, WI, 10/30/2020 —Niche Book Bar, Wisconsin’s only Black owned bookstore focused on serving up varied Black Literature and wine, launched a Kickstarter to open a brick and mortar location. The idea has been a lifetime in the making for Cetonia Weston-Roy, a longtime bookworm that felt Black literature needed more representation outside of trauma based books. After overwhelmingly positive community feedback for Niche Book Bike in the summer of 2020, the next step of a brick and mortar seemed inevitable.
Niche Book Bar seeks to make varied Black literature easily accessible in it’s upcoming store front. The greater Milwaukee community, and beyond, has an opportunity to support the future of Niche Book Bar and it’s impact! Niche will continue to support black authors, youth and adults who seek literature where they are represented, and help to enrich the Bronzeville neighborhood. Giving to the Kickstarter is much more than a donation, it is an investment in literacy, economic support for local authors, and the joy of a good book.
