Local Artist John Suess Brings Wisconsin Landscapes to West Bend Community Memorial Library
25 Original Paintings, Including New 2026 Works on Display Now
WAUWATOSA, WI – Local artist and retired librarian John Suess is showcasing 25 original works in a special exhibition at the West Bend Community Memorial Library, on view on the main floor of the building now through the end of April 2026.
The collection features landscapes from across Wisconsin, abstract pieces, and several new 2026 paintings, including Adrift, The Bog: Saukville, and Shoreline.
Located at 630 Poplar Street in West Bend, the library is open to visitors Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is free. Works on display are available for purchase, with special exhibition pricing offered by contacting the artist directly.
The exhibition highlights Suess’ continued exploration of Wisconsin’s natural beauty, blending elements of impressionism, tonalism, color field, and realism. While landscapes remain central to his work, the inclusion of abstract pieces adds depth and variety. His newest 2026 paintings offer fresh perspectives and reflect his evolving artistic style.
