License revoked for Milwaukee wholesale dealer
The State of Wisconsinrevoked the wholesale dealer license for Giant Auto Sales LLC, 9312 N 107th St., Milwaukee, for unlicensed retail sales. The order, issued by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV), determined that Giant Auto Sales violated state law when they sold at least 30 vehicles to Wisconsin retail customers. In addition, Giant Auto Sales failed to make records available for inspection in violation of state law and administrative codes. The license was revoked effective August 16, 2020.
Businesses with a Wisconsin wholesale dealer license are allowed to buy vehicles at Wisconsin’s auto actions, which are open to only dealers or their representatives. However, they need to have a separate Wisconsin dealers license to legally sell a vehicle to the general public. Vehicles purchased from an unlicensed dealer do not have the same Wisconsin consumer protection laws as those bought from a licensed dealer.
DMV’s Dealer and Agent Section licenses, regulates and resolves disputes about dealership sales and warranty repairs. It also investigates complaints about odometer tampering and title fraud involving dealerships and private sellers.
